Even if you don't focus much on it, social media marketing is a part of every business's marketing these days.
Don't tell me you are a local consumer business and you don't have business pages on Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter.
Anyway, you are posting on social media, make it into successful results for yourself and your business.
These are 10 tips I felt when I thought about making social media work for any business/ product:
1. Make it visually great
Images, Graphs, Videos, Memes, Animations, Emojis.
Do you recall the saying “an image is worth a thousand words?”
People tend to scroll long sentences, but that small animation/ video on your Instagram makes them follow your profile if it's interesting. Also, images and videos come first when searched on the internet.
Not just good quality media, the font, spacing and words decide how your social posts look like. That adds up to your branding.
2. Tell a story
Every person who is a good communicator is a good storyteller. People listen to stories and experiences not usual talks about your business. Stories enable us to build personality and create a connection with consumers.
But is it possible to make a story with social media posts? Yes. You can narrate stories with photos, videos and descriptions.
3. Social proof & social validation
A social media account's main credibility is the communication happening on a post or update. That's how your post gets validated. The number of followers and likes you get on your LinkedIn, Instagram pages definitely shows the social proof of your business.
Not just the number of Likes or Shares, the person who is interacting with our post also matters.
We think anything that experts use is great because they are probably more knowledgeable than us, right? We buy products endorsed by celebrities because we want to be like them, right?
This is social proof. And now you know why it's important.
Social proof is the same reason why you buy products on Amazon having the most user reviews.
4. Keep an eye on what’s trending
Always check the trending part on social media platforms. You never know if your business has a direct relation to the most trending topic on media. You can build posts based on that and it will make your search appearance up.
5. Stay active & respond fast
Do we all expect customer support to be fast?
If you post something and someone comments on it, might be their review or a general point o whatever, how you respond to it really makes an impression on them. Always be active to the communication going on your channel and similar ones. Post, Respond, get connected and that's how relationships are built, right?
6. Make your audience feel smart and classy
Show your brand such that your people feel smart and classy using your brand. You will understand this if you have ever seen Nike's advertisements or social media posts. They respect and show great athletes proudly using their product and that makes a tendency inside customer's heart to use the same brand. People are more likely to do business with you/ buy your product if it’s a product they would be proud to own.
7. Create a poll
Polls are great ways to get feedback on existing products or services – which is not only useful for your product or service development but asking your followers to influence your decisions shows you care about their views. They are also used to conduct market research to make your followers vote on new product or service ideas.
8. Use a content posting service
A content posting service not only allows you to schedule, make posts on a single platform, but it also helps you analyze the performance of each post on different platforms and get everything on a tab. It also helps you run Ads and contests easily. Buzzsumo, Hootsuite, Followerwonk are the services that I have used.
9. Be human
Great marketers always tell to make a human touch on everything you make. Twitter and Instagram over the past decade or so, brands that incorporate a human touch are seeing much more interaction and engagement than those who aren’t. For brands aspiring to truly connect with their audience, it’s important to shift your mindset from ‘selling’ to ‘sharing’ to 'helping'. Then only you will be able to build meaningful relationships with your followers and customers.
10. Optimize your social profile & have contact details
Make your profile updated ie your logo, name, description, contact details etc. impressing that there is a certain standard when they check your business's social profile.
